    Basic Concepts

    • Account- Twitter page like http://twitter.com/MY_ACCOUNT. The user receives MY_ACCOUNT (aka login) upon registration. The login can only contain Latin letters, numbers and the "_" sign. Each account is unique. You can log into your account either by specifying your username and password, or by e-mail (specified during registration) and password.
    • Ban account– blocking (suspension) of a Twitter account for one reason or another. The owner of the account can log into such an account, but tweets from a blocked account are not visible to other users.
    • Followers- those Twitter accounts that you follow. The number of followers is displayed in your account.
    • Followers (readers)- those Twitter accounts that follow you. The number of followers is displayed in your account.
    • Tweet- a message up to 140 characters in length, which the owner of the Twitter account posts on his Twitter account. After posting a tweet, it is added to the account owner’s feed and also appears in the feeds of followers of this account. The number of tweets is displayed in your account.
    • Tweet ID- a unique (within the Twitter service) numerical value that allows you to distinguish one tweet from another.
    • Retweet- transferring a tweet from another account to your feed. A retweet becomes visible to all followers of this account.
    • Replay- public appeal on behalf of one account to another account. The replay is visible to all followers of this account.
    • DM (direct message)- a private message that is visible only to the sender and recipient.
    • Follow- increase the number of those you read.
    • Unfollow- reduce the number of those you read.

    What is Twitter for?

    Twitter is typically used for three things:

    • This is exactly what it was created for - for communication, traffic to the site, etc.
    • For SEO activity.
    • For monetization (which does not exclude the first two points of this list).

    In the first case, you will need a live audience interested in what you are writing about. Your replay feed continues to be updated (after all, your username was there at the very beginning!) and prevents you from seeing truly important answers. Therefore, make it a habit to immediately delete people’s usernames from your correspondence if you understand that now replays definitely don’t concern them.

    8. Don't be shy in your expressions.

    Don't spend too much time formatting the text. The gold standard is to not start sentences with a capital letter or put a period at the end of a tweet. But if you suddenly do everything according to the rules of the Russian language, it will not be a big crime. They don't pay attention to commas on Twitter, but God forbid you make an obvious spelling mistake like "tsya/tsya" - you will be crucified. Obscene language deserves special attention. Sometimes we relax and let our guard down, or anger clouds both our eyes and mind. Once upon a time (when there was no Twitter yet), an acquaintance was fired on the same day that he wrote an angry post about the company for which he worked. Exactly 20 minutes after the publication of the LJ post, the director of the department came running to the department. The outcome is dismissal and, nevertheless, correction of the shortcomings about which the complaint was received. Moral - if you are very angry, write a letter and then delete it, but do not publish it publicly for everyone to see.

    And remember that all your records are still saved, even if visually no one else sees them. You don’t immediately rush into a fight when communicating in person at work, with friends or in a store, do you? Usually you think things through (at least partially) and only then speak. The network gives us a feeling of permissiveness and impunity. The times when you could write anything anonymously and without damaging your reputation and your work are long gone.
