Perfection subscribe to post comments. How to subscribe to comments on a post on LiRu? Important update in the Overseer application

In fact, for VKontakte group owners this is a very pressing problem. I admit that, until recently, I also considered the inability to promptly learn about all the events that occur in groups as a big disadvantage. I even wrote to technical support on VKontakte and asked the question:

“When will it be possible to receive notifications about comments in a group?”

I didn’t receive an answer, but somehow, quite by accident, I found a solution to this problem on the Internet. Yes, I agree that this is not a very convenient method, but for lack of a better one, I consider it the most effective one today.

You can still see comments in VKontakte groups

In order to receive notifications about comments on posts, videos and photo albums, you need to use two tools.

    Supervisor of VKontakte

The first tool is online service, which provides us with all the information that is currently inaccessible to most group owners, and to which we have become so accustomed when working on other social networks.

When new comments appear in a group, the “Overseer” will send a list of existing groups with the number of new comments to the e-mail specified during registration. Everything seems to be fine, but all the information about who left the comment and in which section of the group is not displayed. Therefore, going to the group and viewing photos and videos again is not the best or most productive activity. Still, it’s better to spend this time on more important things.

    ♦ Advice!

Add to the service not only group addresses, but also all sections in which you have user activity: photos, discussions, videos, products.

If you do not use an additional tool, then “VKontakte Overseer” is a completely unpromising tool for you.

VKontakte application “Comments by date added”

Second tool - a completely easy-to-use application in which in a small window you need to enter the address of a group, public page, photo album page or video recording. After a few seconds/minutes, a list of comments with a link to the post will appear on the page. Thanks to this application, you can see which post contains a comment, and calmly and very timely respond to it to the user.

    ♦ Advice!

This application does not send messages to your email. Just run it after the Overseer notifies you that there are new comments.

♦ Let me remind you that neither “Overseer” nor the VKontakte application are effective without each other. Yes, of course, you can use only one VKontakte application, but this can only be convenient if you have one group. Then you can launch the application several times a day to check your group.

And since we all have one common feature that unites us - a small amount of free time, I assure you that enthusiasm will end very quickly.

Important update in the Overseer application

On 03/01/2016, a new convenient function appeared - you can see which specific post a comment was posted on. To do this, you just need to click on the “Go” button and find yourself on the page of the post with the comment. Since there are a lot of spam messages in this group, this new feature is a real lifesaver for me. It is very comfortable! Thanks to the developer!

    Are comment notifications banned?

I still don’t understand why such a popular social network doesn’t provide notifications to the owners of groups and public pages in order to make their work at least a little more convenient in this regard?

♦ If we compare VKontakte with its competitors - Google+ and Facebook, I believe that these social networks properly show respect and care for their users - owners of groups and communities. Agree that with the help of email notifications, you can always answer a question on time and participate in an important discussion. The speed of response to a comment is directly proportional to the degree of trust of participants in the group.

& I hope that these tools will be very, very useful to you. And, as always, I ask you to write in the comments what methods you use to see the events of visitors in your groups in a timely manner.

Friends, greetings! Now you can follow the updates of the Free Webmaster Blog by subscribing to notifications of new comments on articles. I implemented this function using the well-known Subscribe to comments plugin. Very often, a subscription just helps out.

Now for me the treasured “subscribe” checkbox is an indispensable condition for commenting, because if I leave a comment, it means I’m interested in the author’s opinion, what he will answer, therefore I prefer to receive notifications by email.

From a visitor's point of view...

For example, you have a question about an article, you can’t agree with the author, or you just want to talk about it. You leave a comment and wait for a response.

But there is one BUT. You won't have to wait a minute or two. To prevent waiting from turning into a tedious, exhausting action, you can do it easily and simply - use the subscription that the plugin offers Subscribe to Comments.

When new comments appear, you will receive a notification of changes to your email address 😉 If the new comment is small, then its entire content will be displayed in the letter. By following the link you can go to the page and read the full text. It becomes possible to manage subscriptions, delete irrelevant ones, and view the full list of topics you are following.

To do this, you just need to check the box:

From the blog author's point of view...

At your discretion, you can change the appearance of the subscription management page, as well as the type of notification letter. It is possible to use HTML tags and customize everything for yourself.

To insert a checkbox asking you to subscribe, you need to insert the following line after the closing tag:

    You will get the following:

As a result, visitors will be able to subscribe to notifications about changes without leaving a comment, and new comments will be sent by e-mail. Plugin Subscribe to Comments very interesting and useful, I recommend it to everyone!

To set the subscription checkbox to be the default, you need to perform the following steps. Find the main plugin file /wp-content/plugins/subscribe-to-comments/subscribe-to-comments.php and the line in it:

1 input type = "checkbox" checked = "checked" name = "subscribe" id = "subscribe" value = "subscribe" style = "width: auto;" !}/>

    />

and make sure that it is really checked="checked" and not otherwise.

One of the most difficult steps for eleventh-graders in writing an essay (task 25) is working on a commentary on a text problem. This is due to the lack of a clear understanding of the content of the comment not only among students, but often also among teachers.

The difficulty in working on a commentary is also due to the inability to present this fragment of the text being created in any generalized, schematic form, which, undoubtedly, would make it easier for a graduate to write an essay.

Workout writing a comment should be carried out only after students have sufficiently mastered the stageformulating the problem of the source text.
Writing a commentary on a problem (exercises)

Introduction to the criterion-based assessment system

K2. Commentary on the formulated problem of the source text

The problem formulated by the examinee is commented on. There are no factual errors related to understanding the source text problem in the comments.

The problem formulated by the examinee is commented on,

no more than 1 factual error was made in the comments related to understanding the source text.

The problem formulated by the examinee was not commented on,

more than 1 factual error was made in the comments related to understanding the source text,

another problem not formulated by the examinee was commented on,

a simple retelling of the text or its fragment is given as comments,

A large fragment of the source text is quoted as comments.

    Updating the problem:

    - What do you think a comment is?

    - Did you have to comment on anything?

    - What are we going to comment on?

-Why is a text problem commentary necessary? What skills do you think are tested through commentary writing?

-Why is it necessary to write a comment?

Commentary on the problem of the text is given great importance, since this part of the essay demonstrates the graduate’s ability to find and explain the semantic components of the text. It is the commentary on the highlighted problem that shows how deeply and fully the graduate understood the meaning of the text and the problem identified by the author. A correctly written comment allows you to get 2 points in part C.

Let's take a look at the definitions of commentary given by various sources:

Comments- reasoning, explanatory remarks about something (Large explanatory dictionary of the Russian language, ed. D.N. Ushakova)

A comment– 1. explanation; 2. notes; 3. interpretation(Alexandrova Z.E. Dictionary of synonyms of the Russian language: a practical reference book)

Let's highlight the key words in the definition of the comment: “ reasoning", « explanation". Please note that you need to comment on the PROBLEM,reflected in the text, not just text andits themes and not just a problem in isolation from the text.

What can you write about in a comment?

o How relevant is what the author of the text writes about?(Can you assess the degree of relevance of the problem being raised and explain why it is relevant?)

o Who and in what situations have to face such a problem? (Who is the text addressed to (specialists or the general public, young people or middle-aged people, intellectuals or anyone interested in this problem)? Here it would be good to note on what basis you made this conclusion. Why is this problem interesting to them?)

o If possible, briefly describe how other authors (or famous people) have addressed this issue.

o Is the graduate aware of a point of view that does not coincide with the position of the author of the presented text?

o How does the author of the text approach this problem? What life/literary material is the text based on? Is the situation depicted by the author typical? What facts and details does the author pay attention to? Why? What impression does this make on the reader?

o If there are words in unusual usage (metaphors, epithets) that caught your attention, and you understand that it was thanks to their choice that the author managed to convey his idea to the reader, it’s a good idea to pay attention to them.

A well-written comment allows a person who has not read the text to understand what problem the author was thinking about.

    Practical work

Exercise.Read the comments and try to formulate the problem that the author of the original text was thinking about.

    Example 1.

“The writer Sergei Mikhalkov says that children stop reading good books, but these books develop the spiritual world of the child. Good books are fiction, first of all, world classics, reflecting world spiritual experience. These books are known to educated people, and the author of the text also calls them: “Tom Sawyer”, “Evenings on a Farm near Dikanka”, Russian poetry... It is with the help of such literature that a person can learn to think, evaluate the actions of other people, and form their own moral guidelines. The author of the text draws attention to the special role of the fiction book. This role is to educate the soul, develop a special skill - to feel, to empathize. And it is no coincidence that the writer especially emphasizes the role of these books precisely in childhood, when a person is still at the beginning of his life’s journey.” (The problem of the importance of reading classical literature in childhood)

    Example 2.

“This problem has become especially pressing recently: thanks to the development of genetics, a person can not only determine, but also “set” predispositions and talents. The author's indignation is obvious: we ourselves will become uninterested in life if we know everything about our inclinations: everything is predestined, there is no way to choose - many would suffer from a feeling of doom, and if everyone's genome is deciphered, there will be little humanity left in a person. “Life was given to us by fate,” says the author, and we ourselves have the right to manage this life.” (The problem of heredity and self-formation)

“The author of the text proposed for analysis, reflecting on the development of language, says that recently borrowings from other language systems have become large-scale. S. Kaznacheev writes with sadness that the written form of Russian words is distorted by the fact that Latin and other graphic symbols are being introduced into the established Cyrillic spellings. This, in turn, leads to disruption of the functioning of the language, “to the erosion of norms established over centuries.” (The problem of development and preservation of the Russian language)

“Incidents like the one described by the author occur quite often in life. We meet a person, we understand that he needs our support, but instead of helping, we remain on the sidelines, thinking that someone else will help him.” (The problem of people’s indifference to what is happening around them)

Let us analyze the proposed examples from the point of view of compliance with criterion K2. Note that a good commentary does not contain a retelling of the text. Let us point out that a comment can be either lengthy (Example 1) or small in volume (Example 4).

Exercise. Read the original text. State the problem and comment on it .

    ALONE WITH THE CROWD

    (1) A person in a crowded environment is one of the most burning topics of our time.

    (2) A person is not with his neighbor, but with a group, mass, darkness of neighbors. (H) Alone with the crowd.

    (4) Let's take a walk around Moscow and see how he behaves man-2003 in a big city.

    (5) It’s a rare trip around the capital without the metro. (6) Tall heavy doors slam non-stop. (7) Stout guy, apparently great tuned in, whistling something, he pushes the door with his foot. (8) Bogatyrskoyemovement! (9) The door flies off, the guy deftly slips through, but doesn’t hold itbehind her, and she manages to give the sluggish old lady a good hit. (10)Tatried to sneak in with the guy, but, clearly inferior to him in strength anddexterity, I didn’t have time.

    (11) We go down the escalator in zigzag runs. (12) It is known that you need to stand on the right and pass on the left. (13) But the recommendationthis is not observed by everyone, and you have to maneuver between those who stand “asshould" and "how not to".

    (14) We went out onto the platform. (15) The train is approaching. (16) We have to get into the carriage. (17) The operation seems to be simple: first the passengers leave, then they enter. (18) But pay attention to that woman in frontdoors. (19) She is unable to restrain herself - wait until she comes outthe last passenger, and after each exit makes an attempt to slip intorailway carriage. (20) Therefore, the crowd comes out of the doors not smoothly, but somehow convulsively -This is how the thick yogurt of the day before yesterday pours out of an overturned bottle.

    (21) We will not talk here about whether to give way to a woman. (22) The picture, in general, is clear: mostly men are sitting. (23) What ifwomen are either so old that it is impossible to give in to them, or,on the contrary, young, trained, apparently involved in sports, capable of getting ahead of even a gaping man...

    (24) So, a person is not with his neighbor, but alone with the crowd. (25) Maybe here Is it generally inappropriate to talk about good manners? (26) We have to do a lotspend time in crowded places, in conditions far from comfortable, here let everyone take care of himself, (27) But in my opinion, this is wheretrue education is revealed. (28) Good manners these days isfirst of all, not impeccable manners (although this, of course, is not a minus either), butSite materials used

    www. gramma. ru

Good (I hope) afternoon! Today I’ll tell you how easy it is to subscribe to comments on any message on LiRu (which, of course, you have the right to read). I understand that you probably already know about this, but last week I was asked this question by two lyrushniks, who, even with a great stretch, cannot be called “beginners.”

To begin with, I want to highlight the question of where these questions came from. Previously (before the removal of “extra”, or rather, duplicate links from the LiRu interface), there was a “Subscribe to comments” link under each message. But now she's gone. More precisely, it is there, but it’s hard to see. It is located under the “Like” link. This link looks like this for the friends feed:

Especially for those who are not personally satisfied with my design, these and all subsequent screenshots are given for standard design.

What, you still haven’t found where to subscribe to comments on a post? Okay, especially for those who haven’t found it, I’ll highlight these links:

Now you can tell us how to subscribe to comments on a message.

    Method No. 1
Click on the link " Subscribe to comms" (red frame in the screenshot above). LiRu will reload the page and show you a message:

For those who don't want the page to reload, I suggest Method No. 2
Click on the " Liked" (blue frame in the screenshot above). In this case, LiRu will remember that you liked this message and will not overload the page.

How to unsubscribe from comments on a post?
Having told you how to subscribe to receive comments on a post, it would be a little rude not to tell you how to unsubscribe from them. Basically there are 3 or 4 ways to do this. Today I’ll tell you about one of them. And those who suddenly read this message can write another 2 in the comments. At the same time, I’ll check to see if at least one of those who commented on it read this message.

    I'll start with a note.
    Note
Attention! If you unsubscribe from all comments on a post, you will still receive some comments on it. Which? Those that are responses to your comments. You cannot unsubscribe from receiving these comments for just one message. You can unsubscribe from receiving all such comments at.

In order to unsubscribe from comments, click on the “Like” link again (see screenshots at the beginning of the message). There we find the link " Unsubscribe from comments" (red frame in the screenshot below):

Found it? Click on it. LiRu will reload the page and inform you with the following message:

    That's all.

Those who comment on me will immediately understand what I am writing about. After you receive a response to your comment, you receive an email notification (it does?), saying that this is how the site received a response and all that, if, of course, you left your real email.

Read below about how this is implemented.

For example, I am a frequent guest on many blogs and actively communicate on them in the comments. And it is unrealistic to retain all the threads of conversations, remembering on which blogs and in what topics the correspondence was conducted. Therefore, if I suddenly commented on someone, you answered me, and I, in turn, did not react in any way - then I apologize, but it’s your own fault - you should have taken care of automatic notification by mail, and at the same time increasing the number of comments on your articles.

And in this case, everyone’s favorite plugin Subscribe to Comments is far from the best option, because it gives you the opportunity to subscribe to all new comments on the article. I don’t know about you, but I personally find it annoying to clear out the rubble at the post office ( a day and so you have to sort through several hundred letters), when you subscribe to your head like this on some commented blog) Therefore, I almost never use this function, even though I myself have this plugin.

UPD. They delicately turned me off in the comments, reminding me that in this plugin it is also possible to enable the choice of subscription option - for all messages or only for replies. However, I forgot about it for a reason, the fact is that I had already tested this feature once and thus the notifications in the mail did not reach me at all. I don’t know what the problem was, but I thought that this function did not work normally. By the way, almost no one turns it on or even knows about the existence of such an opportunity, so in most cases on blogs you only need to subscribe to all comments on an article.

And that’s half the problem - you could say that you signed up, which means it’s your own fault, you knew what you were getting into, you checked the box - now clear it up ( or not removed if it is checked by default) 🙂

But there are such smart-ass blogs, including among my friends( I won't point fingers🙂) where site owners check this box by default and then simply remove it from the page.

Those. therefore, by leaving your comment on this site, you automatically become the proud owner of a subscription to all comments on the article (which most people don’t care about, we are primarily interested in our own person) and part-time, working at the post office =)

Well, well, well, nonono! It’s not good to do this and force such a subscription on people - I’m sure many people are annoyed by sudden blockages in the mail. For example, I immediately unsubscribe from such a mailing list, and in the future I will think several times about whether it’s worth leaving comments on such a blog at all, so as not to bother myself with unnecessary cleaning up later.

There should be freedom of choice, at least on the Internet, whoever wants to will subscribe, if I want to read other people’s comments, I’ll go and read them on the blog myself. I understand that this is also a marketing technique to increase traffic to the resource, attract users to discussions, etc. however, it seems to me that the technique is very dubious and can give the opposite result.

I hope my call will be heard - return the check mark, down with coercion! 🙂

    Comment Reply Notification plugin.

Here he is, this little scoundrel, which, for some reason, few people know about, or know, but do not use. But this is a great way to remind the commentator about your blog and get him to return as soon as possible, thereby maintaining the thread of the conversation and improving behavioral factors.

It was suggested to me by my comrade in arms and just a good blogger Evgeniy fishkalife. Still, I can’t resist and sleep - before he also had a forced subscription to comments, which really infuriated me :) But then he installed this useful plugin, and commenting on his blog became much more pleasant, especially since there is something to comment on =)

The meaning of its work is simple - as soon as you receive a response to your comment, you receive a notification letter in the mail, and only when the answer is personal to your message - it’s called feel the difference with the buggy Subscribe to Comments :) As a result, the mail is in order, and the mission is completed - the visitor is pleased that they are talking to him and even politely reminding him of this, so that he does not have to strain himself once again to keep everything in his memory.

I won’t describe the plugin settings in detail, I think they are no longer small, they are elementary - we chose in which cases to inform about the response, configured the text of the notification letter ( It’s advisable to do everything in Russian, of course) and that’s all, we enjoy the increased commentary on the blog) If anyone still has problems, write in the comments.

Upd: I didn’t manage to be free) Due to numerous requests, I’ll briefly write how to translate the line in this plugin that displays a checkbox with a subscription to a reply.

It appears after installing the plugin, go to its settings and enable Commenter choose to do so (default checked) in the settings if we want to give the visitor the right to choose whether he wants to receive a response to his comment by mail ( although here you can safely select “If the response is from the author of the post or administrator” or “Always inform”)

Under the comment form, the following message will appear: “Notify me of follow-up comments via e-mail”, which it would be desirable to translate. This is done directly in the plugin file comment-reply-notification.php.

Just open it in a text editor, find the phrase through the search Notify me of follow-up comments via e-mai and in 2 places we replace it with the one we need, for example Notify me of a response to my comment by email. Close, save, everything is ready)

By the way, I myself do not have this plugin installed separately, but this function is built into another one - the tree comments plugin WordPress Thread Comment– it’s like in advertising, 2 in 1, a universal solution for those whose templates do not support the possibility of tree comments and who want to set up notifications about email replies.

By the way, you probably noticed that even with this plugin I give the person the right to choose whether he wants to receive notifications by email.

Although it’s not so scary here, if this option is removed, at least there won’t be any blockages at the post office.

What plugin do you use to notify your commenters?

Writing a comment on the site means expressing your opinion on the material presented on the site and sending it for public viewing.

A published comment can be read by anyone who visits the site - an adult, a teenager, a child. Thus, comments are written not only for the author (authors) of the article (blog, video, audio, etc.), but also for those who will read or view (listen to) the published material.

As written on Wikipedia, a commentary (from the Latin commentarius - notes, notes; interpretation) - explanations to the text, reasoning, remarks about something or remarks - to a post (message).

The word “comment” is sometimes abbreviated – “comment” with the emphasis on the first syllable (komment) or “koment” with the emphasis on the second syllable (comment), so the word becomes pronunciated similar to the English word “comment”, meaning the same thing. And the word “comment” is shortened to “comment” or “comment” - thanks to the features and capabilities of the grammar of the Russian language. Youth slang includes the words “kament”, “kamentit”.

It is correct to write “comment” and “comment” in the texts. However, the abbreviations “comment” and “comment” are acceptable.

Options with “comment”, “kament” and “komentit”, “komentit” - this is a different world, a world of slang, with its own language and rules of communication. I think that the use of such slang does not eliminate the need. And the latter always makes me happy.

Some rules for writing commentary text

It is advisable to write comments without errors, observing syntax, spelling, semantics and other aspects of the Russian language. Slang, abbreviations, omissions, etc. are difficult to perceive by site readers who are interested in comments. It’s better to leave “jokes” for other places where like-minded people who understand each other at a glance or half a hint gather live.

Comments written in poor language, without periods and commas, capital letters, etc., reveal the illiteracy of the author of the comment, even if he had to write the comment on a gadget where it is difficult to follow all the rules of the Russian language. Accordingly, the attitude of readers towards a published illiterate commentary will be perceived through the prism of illiteracy. Many people do not read such “opuses” at all, because it happens that it is even difficult to read such things. The time when it was “fashionable” to write incorrectly is gradually becoming a thing of the past.

Those authors of comments who do not have a Russian keyboard layout often write comments on Russian-language sites in transliteration, using Russian words, but typing them in Latin letters. Such comments are also often not read - this is difficult, since we read in words and phrases, and do not parse the text letter by letter, this is how the human brain works. Here we can advise you to translate the Latin alphabet into Cyrillic alphabet using special programs that are available in abundance on the Internet. And only after converting the Latin alphabet to Cyrillic alphabet does it make sense to post a comment on websites, blogs, video blogs. This is the key to success: the comment will be read.

Comments must be written within the meaning of the published article, video, audio, etc. What is written must relate to the article or some part of it. There is little point in writing your comment about completely different problems that may concern the author of the comment. It is unlikely that such a message will be heard by anyone.

If the topic of the comment still does not relate to the topic of the article being commented on, then the author of the comment needs to explain, at least at the beginning of his text, why and why he publishes his message here, which otherwise will be perceived by readers and the author of the article as a comment “about nothing” "

There is no particular point in “spamming” - this is when in the comments to an article you give some kind of advertisement for your product, services, or intrusively suggest some topic of your own, which the author of the comment considers much more important than everything else.

Typically, comments are checked to one degree or another, moderated by the site administration (this is described below), and will not be missed or published. What's the point of wasting time getting a negative result? Of course, spam comments are often sent automatically, without human intervention; this is done by a robot program. But we will not consider issues of automatic mailing of comments here; this is a separate topic.

What is the main difference between a comment and an email?

A letter is usually written to one person or several people, so a strictly limited, predetermined narrow circle of people can read the email.

A comment on a website (on a blog, on a video blog, under a post on social networks, etc.) can be read by any visitor to the site - and this could be a child, a pensioner, a teenager, an adult, a man or a woman, and each of the comment readers has its own principles, beliefs, rules, habits, views, restrictions. The number of people who read a particular comment may not be limited.

In relation, you can use concepts such as privacy, limited access to reading content. In relation to comments, completely different terms apply - publicity, platform, unlimited access to view the message.

It turns out that comments have an incomparably greater audience reach than an email. On the Internet, the number of people who can read a comment is practically unlimited by nothing except time (the longer a comment is stored, the more people can read it) and traffic to the resource where the comment was left (there are resources on the Internet with over a million visits per day) .

    Where can I leave comments?

Not all sites allow you to leave comments. The place where already written comments are posted, and where you can write (leave) your comment, at the end of a text article, below under the video or audio window, in general, below the text or window where the information of the author of the site, blog, video blog, etc. .P.

To understand whether it is possible to write a comment on the site, you need to open any publication. Then scroll to the bottom and see if there is a comment form there. For example, a comment form might look like the one shown in Figure. 1:

Rice. 1. Form for commenting on the site

How to fill in the fields when writing a comment

Number 1 in Fig. 1– field for entering a comment. It is advisable to express your opinion strictly based on the materials of the published article and in a restrained form, even if the article or its author is somehow disliked by the reader, even if the presented materials differ from the opinion of the author of the comment.

It is strictly forbidden to write insults, obscene expressions, inappropriate calls and other things, especially those prohibited by law. Also, you should not write arguments that are off-topic, that is, that have nothing to do with the publication of the author of the material - such a comment will not make much sense, because the comments will only be read by those who are interested in the article, and not by the thoughts of the author of the comment, which are not related to issues under consideration.

2 in Fig. 1– field for entering your name. Usually you can indicate your name or any other name, for example, (some sonorous, made-up name), a fictitious pseudonym, etc. Some sites do not have a field to enter a name.

3 in Fig. 1– field for entering . If you are interested in receiving a response to your comment, you should indicate your real e-mail, without errors.

If you do not need a response to your message, then you can specify an arbitrary, non-existent email address, for example, [email protected]. You cannot omit your email address at all, otherwise your comment will not be posted on the site.

When writing even a non-existent email address, you must follow the rules for naming addresses. For example, in the address [email protected] there is a name (321), the obligatory “@” sign, again the name (mail), dot “.”, and the abbreviation “ru” or “com”, “net”, etc.

Number 4 in Fig. 1– if you click on the small black triangle, a menu with a choice will appear (Fig. 2):

Rice. 2. Selecting an option to receive replies to comments

By default, if you do not change anything, the option will be used: “Responses to my comments” (Fig. 2). In this case, it is important to indicate the correct e-mail to receive a response.

However, you can select the “Don’t subscribe” option (Fig. 2). Then you will NOT receive a response to your message (if there is one). Selecting the "All" option means that you will receive all comments from all readers left on this article.

Different sites may have different options for subscribing to answers, or may not have them at all. Then you can view replies to your comments and read comments from other Internet users only by re-entering the site and re-scrolling through the article on which the comment was left, to the place where the comments were posted.

On some sites, before posting a comment, you must enter captcha to prevent spam distributed by bots - automatic programs.

The word captcha comes from the abbreviation CAPTCHA. Completely Automated Public Turing test to tell Computers and Humans Apart. Translated, it is the "Fully Automated Public Turing Test for Distinguishing Computers from Humans" - a computer test used to determine whether the user of a system is a human or a computer.

Automatic programs are not able to correctly enter the proposed captcha values; for this, the programs would have to have an intelligence comparable to that of a person. Fortunately, this does not exist yet, otherwise robots would definitely defeat us in the Internet space...

Captcha can be different - you need to check a box, or enter numbers, letters from a picture, etc. If you make a mistake and enter the captcha incorrectly, the comment will NOT be sent to the site, it will simply disappear without the possibility of recovery.

Therefore, in order not to lose the text of the comment in case of failure at the time of sending it, if you have a long, large important comment, then it is recommended to first write it, for example, in Notepad or Word. Then you will have a copy of the comment at hand, and you can send it to the site again by entering the captcha correctly.

Once the submit button is clicked, the comment will either

    • immediately published on the website - the most pleasant moment for the author of the comment,
    • or it will be sent for moderation - the author of the comment will have to wait until the site administration checks the comment and allows its publication,
    • for some reason it may end up in spam on the site - here, depending on your luck, the comment may eventually be published, or it may not be published, but deleted along with a lot of other spam comments.

What does it mean “your comment has been sent for moderation”

Let's say that you filled out all the fields on the site (Fig. 1) and wrote a comment, clicked on the “Submit” button (the name of the button may be different). And in response, a message pops up that your comment has been sent for moderation. At the same time, you see that the comment has disappeared somewhere, as if it never existed.

Moderating a comment means that the site administrator wants to review your message to decide whether to publish it. He checks when he has the opportunity. This can be either instant or long lasting. There are no exact time limits for moderation. Just as there are no legal deadlines, there are no mandatory deadlines for checking comments before publishing them.

As a result of moderation, your comment may be published or deleted without explanation. You will be able to see the published comment on the site after some time. If the comment is deleted, it will not appear on the site, and you will not receive any notifications.

It would seem unfair to delete comments like this without notice and not publish comments. However, almost every site has its own Policy - a set of rules, including commenting rules. If the user has violated the rules, then his comment is not allowed to be published.

The rules can be published openly; they can then be read on the website. The rules may not be published, unfortunately. Again, there are no unambiguous requirements or rules whether to publicly publish Site Policies or not to publish them. Everything is left to the discretion of the site administration. Because they, the site administrations, are the owners of their resource, and have the right to allow or prohibit comments at their discretion, as well as change the rules over time.

Why is it sometimes impossible to write a comment on the site?

Some sites do not allow you to leave comments. Moreover, it may be that you cannot comment on anything on the site at all, so there is not a single comment there and there is no form to write your message.

And sometimes it happens that there are old comments on the site that you can read, but new comments can no longer be written. This means that the site author no longer wants to check comments, that is, moderate them. For this reason, the site administrator has closed the ability to leave messages on his resource.

Large news portal sites that have a huge audience of readers usually close the opportunity to write a comment. As you know, many users want to express their opinion on one or another topical issue.

Accordingly, the team of such a portal needs to constantly check comments around the clock and remove inappropriate messages. This is difficult, unpleasant work. To avoid this, many portal sites have closed or are eventually closing the opportunity to write a comment.

For example, on the Lenta.ru website you can see the message: “Comments on the material are closed due to the expiration of its relevance.” The rules of this portal contain an explanation: “To protect against spam and attempts to distribute materials prohibited by Russian law, comments on all news articles are automatically disabled one day after the article is published.”

Social networks - an alternative to comments on a website?

It is believed that now it is necessary to communicate and write comments on social networks, because they... By the way, almost all sites have their own pages on social networks, where they provide the opportunity to write their opinion.

As for the Lenta ru portal mentioned above, where the ability to comment on materials is closed, it has its own VKontakte page where you can write comments quite freely. Of course, comments on social networks are also checked by moderators, so you should not think that absolutely everything is possible on social networks.

To have the opportunity to express your opinion on a social network and leave messages there, in one or another network. In other words, you need to be a registered user on a social network, because you cannot write comments there as an anonymous user.

User anonymity is one of the reasons why commenting on websites is closed. Although the myth about anonymity on the Internet is greatly exaggerated. There are many ways to determine the author of any post or comment on the Internet, but this is a separate and completely different topic.

In order to combat anonymity, there are sites that are NOT social networks, but you can leave a comment there only if the user is authorized in any social network. For example, you must be an authorized user on VKontakte or Facebook. Only then does it become possible to send your comment to such a site.

Some sites automatically publish user messages from social networks. What does this mean? An announcement of the material (article, post) published on the site is published on the social network. The announcement can be published in a group or on the personal page of the author of the article. Users write comments on this material, which are automatically duplicated from the social network on the website of the author of the article. Therefore, the user is mistaken if he thinks that, for example, messages on Odnoklassniki written for an article by some author “will not go anywhere further than this social network.”

How to copy text from Word and paste it into a comment

It would seem why you need the Microsoft Word text editor to write a comment. However, there are various failures

    • on the site - everything seems to be in order, the comment was written, all the rules were followed, but the comment disappeared completely and was not published,
    • with entering a captcha when sending a comment - a person, of course, is not a robot, and can enter the captcha correctly, but no one is immune from errors,
    • with an Internet connection - right at the moment of sending a comment, as a result it will be lost without the possibility of recovery,
    • with electricity
    • and so on - as you know, everything that does not spoil also spoils, and therefore anything can happen, God forbid.

Therefore, if the comment is voluminous, it is better to first type it in a text editor, then copy and paste it into the comment field on the site. Then this comment will not be afraid of failures, malfunctions and errors, because you will have a copy of the message in a text editor, also saved on disk in a text editor, which is additional protection, for example, in case of a power outage. Accordingly, when all the problems are resolved, it will be possible to repeat the procedure for submitting a comment.

How to copy the text of a message in a text editor, for example, Word?

    1. First, the text must be highlighted (in other words, blued).
    2. Then simultaneously Ctrl+C (the key with the English letter “C”).
    3. Open the field for entering a comment on the site, be sure to place the mouse cursor in this field.
    4. Press two keys simultaneously Ctrl+V (letter “V” in English).

    About comments for money

You can write comments not only from the heart, but also for money. But this will already be work with all the ensuing consequences.

There are special comment exchanges where customers post tasks for writing comments. And the performers fulfill such orders, which means they write messages on websites in accordance with the customer’s requirements. He, in turn, checks the work, pre-checks the written comments, and either accepts the work and pays for it at pre-agreed rates, or rejects it without payment.

In addition, there are content exchanges with similar work for those who want to write comments for money.

Possible options for commenting for money are given in more detail here.

After you receive a response to your comment, you receive a notification by email (it does?), they say, so and so, a response was received on the site and all that, if, of course, you left your real email.

And that’s half the trouble - you could say that you signed up, which means it’s your own fault, you knew what you were getting into, you checked the box - now clear it up ( or not removed if it is checked by default) 🙂

The meaning of his work is simple– as soon as you receive a response to your comment, you receive a notification email, and only when there is a personal response to your message – it’s called feel the difference with the buggy Subscribe to Comments :) As a result, there is order at the post office, and the mission is accomplished – the visitor is pleased that they are talking to him and even politely reminding him of this, so as not to strain himself once again to keep everything in his memory.

To insert a checkbox asking you to subscribe, you need to follow the closing tag. insert line:

There is a category of visitors who do not engage in conversation or leave comments, but still express a desire to follow the topic. They will have this opportunity if you edit the comments.php file of your theme. After the closing tag you need to insert the line:

    You will get the following:

As a result, visitors will be able to subscribe to notifications about changes without leaving a comment, and new comments will be sent by e-mail. Plugin Subscribe to Comments very interesting and useful, I recommend it to everyone!

To set the subscription checkbox to be the default, you need to perform the following steps. Find the main plugin file /wp-content/plugins/subscribe-to-comments/subscribe-to-comments.php and the line in it:

    />

and make sure that it is really checked="checked" and not otherwise.
