The average location accuracy is approximately 500 m. The accuracy depends on the density of base stations and can be different for urban and suburban areas, ranging from 300 to 1200 m.

The subscriber can also activate a subscription fee for the “Beacon” service and, by receiving non-tariffed requests as part of the subscription fee, reduce the cost of using the service:

Subscribers are offered 120 non-tariffed requests monthly as part of the monthly subscription fee, which is UAH 15.94 including all taxes.

In order to use the “Beacon” service, first of all, the subscriber must perform the following steps:

• Create a list of numbers of the Kyivstar network - “family members”, that is, a list of relatives, friends and loved ones whose location the subscriber wants to determine. Note! Determine the location of a subscriber whose number is not yet included in the list of “family members” impossible.
• When creating a list of “family members”:

• indicate their names, which must be unique for each family member.
• The maximum number of “family members” for the “Beacon” service is no more than 10.
• Obtain location permission from “family members.”
• The subscriber whose number is added to the list of family members (regardless of the channel for using the service) receives an SMS notification about this indicating the number of the “head of the family” - the requesting subscriber.

Send SMS to number 5147 within 15 minutes. with the text YES (permanently allow), NO (do not allow) ", in which 380671234567 is the mobile phone number of the subscriber who is the "head of the family" and sent a request for permission to determine the location of the "family member".
• In response to the received request from the subscriber number of the “family member”, within 15 minutes from the moment of receipt, you need to send an SMS message to number 5147 or use the “Reply” function and send a message with the text:
• “YES” - for permission to determine your location
• “NO” - to prohibit determining your location.
• A request for location permission is canceled in the following cases:
• if the subscriber whose location needs to be determined does not give permission to do so;
• if the subscriber who received a request for permission to determine his location does not perform any actions for more than 15 minutes. after receiving an SMS request for permission.
• if the subscriber has prohibited the determination of his location, then he will also not be able to determine the location of the subscriber to whom the prohibition is addressed (that is, “mutual blocking” occurs).
• In the cases described above, the subscriber who requested information about the location of a family member will receive the message: “Subscriber 380671234567 did not respond to your request within 15 minutes.”
• If a subscriber whose number was added to the list of “family members” (using SMS, USSD, WAP or WEB) answered “NO” during the initial request for permission to determine the location, then when trying again to obtain permission to determine the subscriber’s location, the request will not be sent.
  In this case, the subscriber - the “head of the family” needs to remove the number from the list of “family members” and add it again, then it will again be possible to send a request for location permission to a potential “family member”.
• Use of the service.
• In order to use the service via SMS, you must send an SMS with the required text option to the short number 5147.

"Locator" service from MTS

In order to use the Locator service, you need to send an SMS message to number 6677 with a text containing the name of the person you are looking for and his phone number (for example, Andrey 89160000000). If the subscriber gives his consent to determine his location, then you will receive a response SMS with his coordinates on your phone and the service will be activated automatically. To disable the geolocation service, you must send an SMS to the same number with the text “OFF”.
