Unlocking from the operator Megafon Login SP-A1! MegaFon Login (SP-A1): well, a very budget Android Login sp ai

It seems that Russian cellular operators have finally turned their attention to the fact that it is more profitable to sell service than hardware. Yes, this is a common practice in the United States when, when concluding a contract for cellular communication services, the subscriber receives a phone for an essentially symbolic price.

The Big Three launched almost identical Android smartphones priced below $100, manufactured in China. This MTS 960(2990 rub.), Beeline E600(2990 rub.) and MegaFon Login(2560 rub.)
I have the last one in my hands - MegaFon Login on Android 4.0.4.

In addition to the phone itself, for these 2,560 rubles, the subscriber receives three months of work on the Internet at the “Internet XS” tariff. That is, in fact, the phone itself will cost 1990 rubles. Without a contract, the price of the smartphone is 2990 rubles.

The characteristics of the device are as follows:

    • Support GSM, 3G, GPRS, EDGE, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPS, A-GPS, GLONASS
    • Processor Broadcom BCM21654, 1 GHz
    • RAM 512 MB
    • Internal memory 4 GB
    • Video accelerator VideoCore IV HW
    • Capacitive screen 320×480, 3.5", multi-touch for 2 touches
    • Li-ion battery, 1300 mAh
    • Camera 3 megapixels, with flash
    • Supports microSD cards up to 32 GB
    • FM radio with RDS
    • MicroUSB and 3.5 mm headphone connectors
    • Dimensions 63 × 115.8 × 13 mm, weight 118 g.
Just six months ago, I wrote on Habré about the MegaFon SP-W1 smartphone with almost identical characteristics and a price of 8,900 rubles.

I was wondering what needed to be done with the gadget to make it 4 times cheaper without changing the characteristics, and does it make sense to buy it at that price? Looking ahead, I will say that I liked this toy. Login is definitely worth the price, and Android helps a lot with that.

The configuration of a smartphone is traditionally simple and predictable. This is a rechargeable battery and a USB cord with a charger. In addition to them, the miniature box contained a manual and a wired headset (does anyone print them out at all?).

The charger produces 0.5 A, which seems to be not much these days. The battery is also small - 1300 mAh. However, the current consumption in this smartphone is low - the battery is enough for a couple of days of active use.

In numbers, this is about 9 hours of talk time, 8 hours of watching movies or 125 hours of standby time.

MegaFon Login looks like a modern, quite stylish smartphone. The size was chosen very well - it fits into a shirt pocket, and does not get in the way or break in jeans. Feels comfortable in the hand (back panel with SoftTouch coating). For example, the Nokia Asha 200 (pictured) has a similar size.

I must say that I got the phone a week ago, and all week I used it mercilessly in physically extreme modes. I was not able to damage it in any way - it was assembled very reliably, and itself is quite durable.

I have only one complaint about the assembly. (it was similar for SP-W1, by the way): The microUSB connector is not protected in any way. And I'm pretty sure I could put the wire in there the wrong way and break something there.

Apart from the microUSB, there is nothing else on the left side of the phone. On the top there is a headphone jack and an on/off button. On the right is a volume rocker, at the bottom is a microphone and a hardware “Home” button. It’s not really needed, but it’s more convenient to turn on the smartphone screen than the button on the top edge.

On the back of the device there is a camera (3 megapixels) with LED flash. The camera does not have autofocus, which significantly affects the quality of the pictures. It can record quite decent video at 640×480 resolution. The flash can be used as a flashlight, and this is its best use.

It is quite possible to photograph text with such a camera; it will be legible in the photograph.

The external speaker of the phone is normal, the melodies play loud enough. The sound in headphones is better if you get normal headphones, of course.

The MegaFon Login screen is definitely not the strongest point. The manufacturer saved money on this. Not too high brightness, small viewing angles, low sensitivity and accuracy. You need to get used to it (in a week I learned to type text almost without missing a beat), and for those who are annoyed by such things, this smartphone is contraindicated.

Partially, the problem with typing is solved by installing alternative on-screen keyboards and display calibration.

The strength of a smartphone is geolocation. There is also a very fast GPS, A-GPS, and even GLONASS, which is generally a rarity for devices in this price range. And it all works.

When connected to the car's on-board network, MegaFon Login turns into a navigator. All popular navigation systems and maps can be installed on it without any problems and work perfectly. As far as I understand, in the pre-installed Navigation program, MegaFon does not even charge money for traffic.

Like SP-W1, Login only works with MegaFon SIM cards. You can also buy “untethered”, but it’s a little more expensive and made to order (you’ll have to wait).

It keeps a good connection, both in Wi-Fi networks, and in 3G, and in areas with poor coverage.

According to the manual, the 3G module operates in the HSDPA 7.2 Mbit/s download format, HSUPA 5.76 Mbit/s upload. The possibility of such speeds depends on the number of base stations nearby. I was unable to record a download speed of more than 4 Mbps - the smartphone works with 3G at the same speed as the first generation iPad. I think in large cities the speed should be higher.

You can choose which network to use - 2G or 3G. There are functions of a Bluetooth modem and a Wi-Fi router, which significantly expands the possibilities of using the device.

The software of the smartphone has not undergone any special changes - in addition to the Android 4.0.4 ICS OS itself, a set of programs from Mail.ru, “Navigator” and “Replace the beep” from MegaFon, as well as a certain sports application “Championat.com” were found in the smartphone.

Almost all the programs that I tried to run on this smartphone worked without any problems. The exceptions are Skype and Chrome - official applications from the Play Market do not work, you need to install other versions (available on the Internet). Only Instagram does not work at all - a patch has not yet been released.

The games work, all kinds of racing simulators and shooting games (Dead Trigger, for example) work flawlessly, not to mention all kinds of Angry Birds.

No obvious glitches or freezes were noticed - the device works quickly, clearly and predictably. In my opinion, this is what saves the smartphone - it runs Android and the vast majority of applications from the Play Market completely honestly.

And behind some of the complexity of Android from the point of view of beginners, there are its broad capabilities. Completely banal tasks like “download a movie to your phone and watch it” or “take a picture and send it by e-mail” are solved on such a device extremely simply and in a matter of seconds.

I think children will also be delighted with such phones (games, applications, appearance), and parents’ wallet will suffer less if the child loses or breaks the phone.
