Review of almost the tablet of my dreams. review of almost the tablet of my dreams Huawei M3 10 tablet specifications

However, it is quite cute, light and subtle.

Externally, it is a typical rectangle with smoothed corners. The bezels around the screen seem wide, but this is normal for a tablet - this will prevent you from accidentally pressing the display. The only thing that looks unusual is the metal frame; it is visible from the front and seems to border the device around the perimeter. An oval fingerprint scanner is visible at the bottom center. You can use it to control the tablet, but it's not very convenient: you have to either reach for it with your fingers or hold the tablet vertically to access the buttons within your finger's reach.

The back panel is a matte surface with the Huawei inscription and a camera eye on the top right. A separate interesting feature is four speakers, a pair on top and bottom. By the way, they seem to be separated from the center of the body by strips at the metal ends. If the tablet were completely metal, then we could say that these are inserts for antennas. But in this case, the entire back is made of plastic. So these stripes are most likely just for beauty. The tablet is assembled well, but still plays in the hand and bends if you press on it. During testing, the back of the device was slightly scratched, meaning its presentation was compromised after just a few weeks of use.

Huawei MediaPad M3 Lite 10 can be purchased in two colors - gray and gold.

    Dimensions and weight - 4.2

Despite the large diagonal, the new MediaPad M3 Lite 10 is thin and quite light.

In terms of size and weight, the device is almost no different from. The tablet weighs 460 grams and its dimensions are 241x172x76 mm. So, it is a little thicker and heavier, but lighter.

    Ports and interfaces - 4.4

We highly appreciated the communication capabilities of the Huawei MediaPad M3 Lite 10. Mainly due to the modem and the ability to make calls.

As is usually the case, the tablet is available in versions with and without a 4G modem. With the MediaPad M3 Lite 10 you can make calls, albeit only on speakerphone. The fast, dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac didn’t disappoint either. In addition, there are standard A-GPS and Bluetooth v4.2. You could only add an infrared port or an NFC chip. The connectors and controls are located as follows:

    • on the right - power key, volume rocker;
    • at the top there are speakers, a headphone jack;
    • below - speaker;
    • on the left is a slot for microSD and nanoSIM, a micro-USB 2.0 connector.

    Performance - 3.4

The tablet works quite quickly in daily use, despite the entry-level chipset. Sometimes it is not enough only for demanding games and heavy applications.

The tablet has an eight-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 processor (four cores of 1.1 GHz and four of 1.4 GHz) with Adreno 505 graphics and 3 GB of RAM. This is entry-level hardware, but it copes quite well with all tasks except heavy games. In daily use, the tablet does not slow down, but only if you do not start experimenting with multi-window mode and launch many applications.

In various benchmarks, the MediaPad M3 Lite 10 achieved moderate results:

    • SunSpider (browser speed) - 2034 ms, not very good, at the level of 2014-2015 tablets;
    • GeekBench 4 (processor test) - 2868 points, outperforms smartphones;
    • 3DMark Ice Storm Unlimited (graphics test) - 9884, comparable to .

    Display - 4.3

The display of the Huawei MediaPad M3 Lite 10 is moderately bright and high-quality, although not the clearest and most accurate in terms of color reproduction.

The screen has an IPS matrix with Full HD resolution (1920×1080 pixels) and a pixel density of 224 per inch. It's pretty sharp for a tablet, although it does show some pixelation up close. The display does not have features, such as special protective glass or oleophobic coating.

The range of measured brightness turned out to be quite wide - from 2 to 404 cd/m2. Not bad, although in sunny weather you still have to squint to read from the screen. The contrast turned out to be quite good, 860:1, comparable to . Color gamut is typical, 96% of sRGB. The color temperature is almost standard, but the color accuracy is a little let down. Of some features, we will highlight only the vision protection mode and manual adjustment of color temperature.

    Battery - 5.0

Huawei MediaPad M3 Lite 10 received fairly high scores in battery life tests. It is slightly inferior to models like the Apple iPad or Samsung Galaxy Tab S3, but not very much.

The tablet received a 6660 mAh battery. Not a bad figure, but for a 10-inch model it could have been more. MediaPad M3 Lite 10 lasted about 6 hours in games, slightly inferior. When watching videos at moderate brightness, it just fell short of 12 hours, an hour more than the iPad Pro. In idle mode (the screen is turned on at minimum brightness), the device lasts a little more than a day, about the same. The tablet can be praised for its high battery life, although this is largely due to the entry-level processor.

Huawei MediaPad M3 Lite 10 takes a very long time to charge, it takes about five hours.

    Cameras - 5.0

The 8 and 8 MP cameras of the Huawei MediaPad M3 Lite 10 are good by tablet standards. But if you have at least an average one with you, then most likely it will take better pictures.

The camera interface looks the same as on most. That is, on the left you can pull out various shooting modes, and on the right - general shooting settings. Among the additional features, we note the HDR mode, panorama shooting and audio notes. Interestingly, there is not even a manual mode, which the small Huawei MediaPad M3 Lite 8 had. If we talk about the shooting quality, it is quite typical for its resolution: with sufficient lighting, you can get a good side-by-side shot. But even during the day, photos are often noisy or overexposed. However, the HDR mode helps only a little. As for video, the tablet records Full HD video, but without tracking autofocus. In general, if you have a smartphone, it would be better to shoot with it.

But the 8 MP front camera already copes well with its tasks. So, she writes Full HD video (1920x1080 pixels) and takes good selfies. Although indoors they lose in terms of clarity, they come out no worse than on most smartphones. As befits a front camera, it received decorating filters. But now they are not divided into different categories, it is just one slider indicating the degree of decoration from zero to ten.

Photos from the camera Huawei MediaPad M3 Lite 10 - 5.0

Photos from the front camera of Huawei MediaPad M3 Lite 10 - 5.0

    Temperature - 3.3

Huawei MediaPad M3 Lite 10 showed average results in heating tests. It may well become quite warm, but not scalding hot.

In standby mode, the device barely heats up, only up to 28.4 degrees, which is better than the average for tested tablets. But if you load the MediaPad M3 Lite with 10 tasks, it becomes noticeably warm, almost hot - up to 42 degrees on the back, above the Huawei inscription.

    Memory - 4.0

The Huawei MediaPad M3 Lite 10 has either 16 or 32 GB of internal memory. These are typical, average figures. Although a memory card slot will help you in case of shortage, you can add up to 128 GB.

    Peculiarities

The MediaPad M3 Lite 10 isn't particularly unusual, but it does have its own quirks. For example, a system of four stereo speakers, an operating system and a user-friendly interface.

At first, I’m a little confused by the large number of pre-installed applications, many of which cannot simply be removed. Features include the pre-installed SwiftKey keyboard, the presence of separate audio and video players, as well as control of the tablet using a fingerprint scanner. It recognizes not only clicks, but also swipes. Another detail is the combination of on-screen buttons with a scanner. The problem is that the finger just reaches out to the scanner instead of the touch keys, and it’s not clear what to press at all. It’s good that the buttons on the display can be removed and only the scanner can be used.

Display quality. Sound quality. Autonomy. Connection quality. Build quality.

    Minuses

The diagonal is not optimal. Weight. Sound in headphones.

    Review

I bought it before the New Year as a temporary replacement for a laptop for surfing the web and occasionally watching movies. I chose it solely based on the filling and functionality without reference to the brand. Before this I used an iPad mini. The device is not bad, well built, well optimized for working with office applications. The autonomy is amazing - with three-hour work every night, I charge it once every five days. Not bad for watching HD movies, but you need to choose the original file quality and screen aspect ratio. With small errors in proportions, the picture easily becomes elongated. The built-in video player is powerless; I didn’t install third-party ones. But the sound! Not all TVs sound like that! Four speakers on both sides provide a good, detailed, voluminous (for the size of the emitters) and loud audio. High-quality video files are a pleasure to watch. The display is good, rich, color rendering is quite natural, but the glass often interferes with glare in rooms. Now about the shortcomings. The screen diagonal does not work optimally with some sites, collecting content in a heap or, conversely, not showing half of the resource. When typing in opening windows, the keyboard often covers more than half of the source code, forcing you to change the display orientation. There is a bug with the RAM - I type a lot of text in the window, at some point the typing is interrupted and the tablet refreshes the page, naturally losing the text. It happens rarely, but I’m used to maintaining what I’ve gained. And against the backdrop of excellent external sound, connecting headphones makes you wince for a long time. The sound is quiet, the quality is below average. Connecting external acoustics via "3.5" gives the same problem. But on AptX BT "Aura2" plays perfectly! In any case, the device is worth the money; the closest analogues in terms of quality are at least 20% more expensive.

Huawei MediaPad M3 Lite 10 32Gb comes in two versions: 32Gb and 16GB, but in this review we will focus specifically on the model with 32Gb of internal memory.

    Contents of delivery

In addition to the tablet itself, the box contains a charger, a micro-USB cable, a special tool for removing and installing SIM cards, documentation and operating instructions.

No additional accessories (case, headphones) are supplied, although it would be a good idea to get them.

    Design

The appearance of the gadget is not distinguished by unusual design solutions.

The MediaPad M3 Lite 10 comes in several color options: silver, gold and dark gray.

The front side of the tablet is white or black.

With a screen diagonal of 10 inches, the device does not look bulky.

The bezel around the screen looks a little thick for 2018, making the tablet seem a little larger than it feels in the hand.

At the same time, the size of the gadget itself and the screen remains within comfortable limits.

Additionally, the top and bottom frames are equipped with decorative holes, behind which 4 speakers are hidden.

Making listening to music and watching movies more enjoyable.

    Front side

The device is designed to work in landscape orientation.

On the right side are the power button and volume keys.

On the left side there are connectors for connecting headphones, charging and a tray for installing SIM cards.

Everything is standard, but when making video calls with a headset or charger connected, holding the tablet in your hands is not entirely comfortable.

The same applies to speakerphone, because... You can accidentally cover the microphone hole with your finger.

But the front camera is located exactly in the middle of the top panel, making Skype calls more comfortable (compared to models on which the front camera is installed in the corner).

Additionally, on the front there is a small company logo, an LED indicator and a fingerprint scanner.

    Backside

On the back there is only a slightly protruding corner camera and a small Huawei logo.

The case material is metal, which is why the tablet slips a little in your hand.

Therefore, for more comfortable work, you can purchase a silicone case.

Due to the presence of aluminum in the M3 line and a thinner body, the model weighs 10% less than its predecessors (T3 series), which is acceptable for a tablet with a screen diagonal of 10 inches.

After unpacking and first acquaintance with the device, we can draw the following conclusions regarding the build quality:

1 The power and volume buttons move smoothly and work clearly the first time you press them. They do not dangle, which is why the risk of sticking is minimal.

2 There is no creaking or play. The connectors are quite recessed and do not interfere during use.

If we talk about ergonomics, the device is fully designed to work in landscape orientation.

This is evidenced by the location of the speakers, camera and connectors.

Therefore, this may seem like a minor drawback for some users.

    Screen

Huawei MediaPad M3 Lite 10 features a built-in IPS matrix with a resolution of 1920 by 1200 pixels.

Thanks to this, the screen can easily be classified as Full-HD, which is not entirely a plus.

The final aspect ratio is 16:10, which is much cooler than the standard 16:9.

But while promising a mobile cinema, the developers for some reason did not take into account that most films are released in 16:9 format.

The pixel density is 224 ppi, which also leaves much to be desired.

At close range, individual pixels can be seen.

But if you don’t find fault, there is no discomfort during use.

By default, the screen temperature is cold, only 7000K, but the problem is easily solved by using third-party software.

The maximum brightness of 451 cd/m2 allows you to comfortably use the tablet when exposed to direct sunlight, but with slight losses in color rendition.

Adaptive adjustment and built-in uniform backlighting, with a utility to reduce blue light, make it possible to read books and view web pages without the risk of damaging your eyesight.

The picture quality is pleasant. Additionally, the wide viewing angle is pleasing, so the tablet can be used to watch videos with a small group.

There is an oleophobic coating that protects the display from fingerprints and smudges.

The MediaPad M3 Lite 10 has an average screen, which is suitable for a budget device, but not for the M3 series, which promised to become the flagship in the mid-price segment.

    Sound

A separate point worth mentioning is the sound quality.

And the Harman Kardon logo is not here by chance.

For those who don’t know, this is a company that produces Hi-Fi radio electronics.

Therefore, MediaPad M3 Lite 10 can easily be classified as a mobile Hi-Fi.

The tablet has 4 loud speakers, this is its strong point.

    As a result we get:

    • High volume built-in speakers that can rival a small wireless speaker.
    • Wide frequency range, good bass and lows.
    • Support for SWS 3.0 effects (automatic equalizer adjustment when switching between audio and video).

    But there were some downsides.

When playing music at maximum volume, the bass and mid frequencies are noticeably “lost”, and already at 80% obvious distortion of the audio signal can be heard.

When using a headset (including a highly sensitive one), this problem does not exist.

Built-in speakers are suitable for playing movies and videos. But it’s better to listen to music through headphones.

    Interface

The device runs on the Android operating system version 7.0.

If you are familiar with smartphones from Huawei, then in the Mediapad M3 Lite 10 the EMUI 5.1 shell has virtually no visual differences, if you do not take into account the forced changes associated with the dimensions of the gadget and the larger screen diagonal.

Touch navigation keys conveniently move between screens or to the center using a swipe - no need to constantly grab the tablet.

If we talk about other proprietary features of the firmware, users were given the opportunity to choose the design style of the home screen.

You can do this with one touch by going to settings and checking one of the available options for displaying it:

1 Classical. All applications installed on the device can be accessed through a special menu.

2 Custom. Familiar for owners of devices based on Android and iOS, in which shortcuts are located on the working screens.

The split-screen function, standard for version 7 of the Android operating system, in the Huawei MediaPad M3 Lite 10 makes using tablets more comfortable.

You can simultaneously view several pages and work with two applications at once.

    Tablet operation

Huawei MediaPad M3 Lite 10 is a mid-range tablet with a large display. The device was announced in early June 2017. Its distinctive feature is a massive screen, as well as high-quality sound.

    Appearance and ergonomics

The Huawei MediaPad M3 Light 10 is dominated by a practical design, thanks to which the device is truly convenient to use. There are rather thin frames around the huge display. There is also a metal frame around the entire perimeter, making the appearance of the tablet computer very elegant.

Below the screen there is a navigation button with a built-in fingerprint scanner. The edges of the aluminum case are rounded, which allows you to comfortably use the gadget in any situation. Available colors: space grey, silver and gold. Dimensions: height - 241.3 mm, width - 171.5 mm, thickness - 7.1 mm, weight - 460 g.

    Display

The screen in the MediaPad M3 Lite 10 tablet is not only large, but also of high quality. Its 10.1-inch diagonal is complemented by an FHD resolution of 1920 by 1200 pixels. It uses a classic IPS matrix with maximum viewing angles. There is a serious reserve of brightness. The backlight level is adjusted automatically, and this is done very correctly.

Color rendition is close to natural shades. If you want to change the color scheme, you can do it yourself using the settings. Thanks to the oleophobic coating, no streaks or fingerprints remain on the display.

    Hardware and performance

The MediaPad M3 Light 10 runs Android 7.0, which comes straight out of the box. This operating system is modified using the proprietary EMUI 5.1 shell. A processor with eight Snapdragon 435 cores with a maximum frequency of 1400 MHz is responsible for performance. The Adreno 505 chip appears to be a graphics accelerator.

For a mid-class tablet, having 3 GB of RAM looks like a definite plus. The amount of internal memory is 16 GB or 32 GB depending on the model. The memory can be expanded using MicroSD cards (up to 128 GB). In the synthetic AnTuTu test, the device scores more than 47,000 points. Games can be played comfortably only at lower graphics settings. As for everyday work, there are no problems here, everything functions smoothly and stably.

    Communication and sound

The Chinese manufacturer paid special attention to the sound system of the Huawei MediaPad M3 Lite 10, which is worthy of praise. To create surround sound, four powerful speakers are used at once, which are capable of realizing a stereo effect. SWS 3.0 technology makes the tablet instantly respond to the slightest actions and turns. Thanks to collaboration with Harman Kardon, crystal clear sound was achieved. There is support for LTE, Bluetooth 4.1 and Wi-Fi Direct.

    Camera

Present in the Huawei MediaPad M3 Light 10 and an 8-megapixel main camera with aperture 2.0 and autofocus. In the daytime, its capabilities are enough to take excellent photographs comparable to the level of good smartphones. There is an 8-megapixel front camera, but without automatic focusing.

    conclusions

MediaPad M3 Lite 10 definitely deserves the attention of buyers. A tablet PC costs from 21,000 rubles, and for this amount the user gets a practical and stylish metal case, high-quality acoustics, a truly massive screen and an abundance of memory.

    Pros:

    • Great sound system.
    • Large and juicy display.
    • Stylish aluminum body.
    • Lots of permanent and RAM memory.
    • High-quality oleophobic layer.

    Minuses:

    • Not the most powerful filling.
    • Average battery life.

    Pros: Design, build quality, sound.

Disadvantages: If you are going to download and store data on an external card, be sure to take an A1 certified module.

Comment: The problem was solved independently, I’ll leave the information for the story, maybe it will be useful to someone. When downloading data, the speed jumped from 0.01 to 2.5 Mb/s, despite the fact that I have a premium router at home and all other devices always download at a speed of ~10 Mb/s. Active searches for the problem narrowed the circle to the “Download + Memory Card” combination. I checked the card (original Samsung, result 70/30) - I decided to buy a new one, also Samsung, just in case, before installation I checked - 90/50 - but for the tablet there is no difference - it pumped at close to zero speeds, and still does. In the end, it turned out that the tablet needed a flash drive with fast writing/reading of random blocks, and this is a rather rare beast, but they are already appearing. Buying a SanDisk Extreme A1 V30 helped me; from the moment I used this card, all the “lags” went away.

Pros: Excellent screen, quick settings, the 7 has an even more user-friendly interface. The design is beyond praise - at the level of the leaders of this market, very light, fits perfectly in the hand, took the golden one. A minimum of applications are preinstalled, which is good news - there is little unnecessary garbage. There is the necessary Microsoft package, which I am very pleased with. Arrived packed in a box, but already with Sberbank)))

Comment: I just unpacked and set it up, but I already like it. Not worse than Samsung, but the price tag is more pleasing. I think I’ll add more to the review later. UPD: I’ve been actively using it for almost three weeks now. Satisfied, no complaints. The tablet is fast, the video is beyond praise, the sound too. I don’t play with toys - I can’t say anything. For surfing, video and audio - great. As a navigator - also excellent. Withstood travel abroad, use on an airplane and in the mountains. Don't take a branded case - I pasted a branded film and put the tablet in their case. Now from the fold of the cover there is a stripe on the film that cannot be wiped off by anything. When turned on, it is not visible, but is annoying with its existence.

Pros: Bright juicy screen, beautiful appearance, very pleasant sound quality, lightweight. Aluminum body (at least it seems so to me)

Disadvantages: Lacks LED flash and pressure sensor. Average battery life.

Comment: I bought it as a gift for my parents to work with IT, sometimes watch movies and listen to the radio. Mainly used at home. I chose between Samsung Galaxy Tab A 10.1 SM-T585 16Gb and Lenovo Tab 4 TB-X704L 64Gb. Samsung has weaker hardware and the cells burn out (I saw it in the store). Lenovo has more powerful hardware, there is a radio, but I didn’t like the appearance, the back plastic side is slippery. Worse quality of workmanship (according to reviews). A nuance - at first my father’s touchscreen didn’t work well when it came into contact with the screen (it worked well for me). I updated the system and everything seemed to be fine. Therefore, for a gift, the Huawei MediaPad M3 Lite, for the tasks that are required of it, was more suitable for me.

Advantages: Good screen The body fits well, does not creak, does not crack. The buttons are pressed normally, do not stick, do not play. The sensor works without failures, I immediately switched to it from the control buttons. Sound 5+. Sound is something that was missing in tablets, as a device for “consuming” media content, surfing the Internet while watching video/music, etc. HUAWEI is the first to correct this flaw. Android requires more and more memory, so you can’t buy the 16GB option so as not to be painfully offensive. 32 GB is what we need, we are waiting for options with a larger capacity. 3GB of RAM is what you need for a browser; chrome is picky about this parameter. The battery holds up fine. There are no leaks. The tablet, when used in the evenings, in my version is discharged after 4-5 days. There were no freezes during the entire period of use. I bought a “native” case so that the speakers would not overlap, and when the case was closed, the light sensor worked correctly: the tablet went into standby mode as it should, and the battery did not discharge almost overnight. The tablet did not turn off/reboot for more than a month. The OS and hardware are stable. At 10% it is put on charge and again for 5 days of work. I immediately bought a 128 GB card. Following the advice of the sellers, those who tested this device did not spare the money and took the card quickly (around 5,500 rubles) and subsequently did not regret the slight overpayment. The microphone is weak. Sometimes Viber interlocutors complain about hearing. But because The % of time it is used for conversations is very low - then for me this is a trifle. The tablet does not heat up, but there are no advantages over its competitors, because... mid-range processor. The weight of the device is normal. When choosing, the priority was to place the device horizontally in front of you and hold it with two hands or one hand on the inside of the elbow.

Disadvantages: I would like more built-in memory. There is enough RAM, but 32GB is somehow not enough for 2018, they are being greedy. Therefore, a MicroSD memory card is required, otherwise there is simply nothing to download movies to (remember that this tablet is for media content, not games).

Comment: When I bought it, I picked up 2 tablets from the store for comparison: Apple iPad and Huawei M3 32GB. One tablet in one hand, the other in the other, I put it on the table and tried them out in the tasks that I needed. Well, as a result, Huawei took it. When asking the boys standing nearby when choosing “why not apple???” The answer has not changed: I have requirements for technology and electronics to perform specific tasks. And the choice of tool depends on how well it copes with them. Since I am not a collector, having an unnecessary (somewhat dissatisfying) item for the sake of mass hysteria is a LUXURY. Therefore, the set is as follows: the tablet itself + a film for the screen + a good case + a good microSD card for 128 GB. Total almost 30 tr. per set. Since so far the tablet has not disappointed in anything, the choice was right.

Pros: Ideal tablet. In use for 1.5 months. I’m very pleased with the battery, I charge it once every 3-4 days, if you actively use it it’s enough for 2 days, the screen is good, the brightness is sufficient even in the sun, the sound is very loud for such a thin device. I'm very pleased with the fingerprint, it reads it in any position. Someone complained about thin frames, but in fact everything is fine with this, there is no lag, there is plenty of RAM. I was pleasantly pleased that the connection with Chinese headphones, speakers, and keyboard had no problems at all. There are many settings, both for the keyboard and in general, I don’t want to choose. I still want to say a lot of good things, I’ve listed the main ones. I used to use Samsung, in my opinion it’s better and cheaper

Disadvantages: Sometimes Google search pops up when changing the language, it's probably a matter of settings

Comment: The best I've had, quality build

Pros: The tablet looks very elegant. We don’t play games, so there’s nothing to say about “it doesn’t drag,” “lags don’t lag.” Immediately put the tablet in a branded case. It became more convenient to hold with one hand. The sound is excellent, loud, clear, frequencies are audible, do not fall out, do not wheeze, do not rattle. Very rich screen colors. It's comfortable to watch movies, the sound in the headphones is also good. It is not loaded with unnecessary applications and they can be deleted or disabled. The camera is at an acceptable level, the photo of the text is clear. At a short distance, you can get good photos of objects and people. You can do a touchscreen. It copes well with everyday workload and works just as well on Skype. Everyone can be seen and heard. It doesn't play all audio files and videos, but that's not a problem either. Solved by installing additional programs. Many people are interested in: - “Are there any stripes at the edges of the screen when watching movies?” Yes, I have. But personally it doesn’t bother me. In general, the tablet evokes positive emotions.

Disadvantages: The case is very expensive for its quality (some kind of polymer, similar to vinyl or dermantin, it is not clear, but quite hard) - 1500 rubles.
